Director's administrative files, 1924-1977.

The administrative files contain correspondence and other records on a variety of subjects and activities, including forestry, the federal water pollution control program, commercial fishing, and public access areas and landings. As well, the series documents the day-to-day operations of the department and its units, and its communications with other state agencies. Publications and special studies, such as the extensive information collected about fire ants, are also present. Additionally included are the minutes and reports of the Advisory Board of Conservation. In 1971 the Dept. of Conservation became the Dept. of Conservation and Natural Resources. From 1935 to 1939 it was called the Dept. of Conservation of Game, Fish, and Seafood. From 1923 to 1935, it was named the Dept. of Game and Fisheries.
